Your first race morning

What happens on a Saturday, and how to get ready.

Enter your races

Updated

1 Before Saturday

Enter your races online by 9am Friday, the entry cut-off. How to enter races.

Each Saturday you can swim up to three point score races, each a different stroke or distance, plus the handicap race.

Which races should I enter?

Start with what you’re comfortable swimming. Your first swim of each stroke and distance is a time trial: it sets your starting time.

Swimmers who swim 25m faster than 25 seconds for freestyle, or 30 seconds for other strokes, move up to 50m races (except the 35–50 and 51+ age groups).

Not sure? Our volunteers can help you choose.

What is the handicap race?

A 50m freestyle sprint with staggered starts based on each swimmer’s time, so swimmers of all speeds have a chance to win. It isn’t entered online: put your name down at the pool before 7:30am.

2 On the morning

Racing is from 7am to 9am at the Outdoor Memorial Pool, Parramatta Aquatic Centre, and starts at 7am sharp. Introduce yourself to a Club volunteer.

Bring your swimmers, goggles and a towel, and allow time to pay for pool entry, which is separate from Club membership.

What do I do when my race is called?

Two calls are given for each event. When your event is called, go to the marshalling area, where swimmers wait for their race. Please keep quiet during starts.

Can I warm up in another pool during racing?

No. The other pools, and any lanes not used for racing, are out of bounds while Club races are on.

I’m coming to help, not swim

Thank you! Helpers are asked to be at the pool by 6:30am so racing can start on time. In Race Entry, tick Volunteering only under your name.

3 After your race

Results are published online, usually within a day or two. How to view race results.

Club training follows racing, from 9am to 10am.
